Let ASUU Continue With Their Strike! 'No Money to Meet Demands' ---Okonjo-Iweala

It beat my imagination that the minister of finance can come out to tell Nigerians there is no money to pay ASUU,but there is always money to take to Swiss private banks account.we hear these same government holders building and awarding contract to their family and friend all in the name of sharing and eating from the national cake but when it comes to matters of development and infrastructure in the country ,you will see them giving excuses because their children live and school abroad so who cares?

Below is what the  minister of Finance is saying to ASUU:

“At present, ASUU wants government to pay N92 billion in extra allowances over and above their salaries. Though we are in discussion with them, the problem is that the resources to take care of the demands are simply not there.”

“People are supportive when there is agitation to increase salaries, pensions among others. But on the other hand, people also turn around to say the recurrent budget is too high and there is no way you can have it both ways and so we have to make specific choices in this country.”

“Do we want to get to a stage when virtually all the monies and resources we earn are being used to pay salaries and allowances for public servants, who make up a minute percentage of the country’s population?

“If we do, it means that government workers will take up the entire budget of the country with nothing left for roads, water, education and others.”

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala spoke while delivering keynote address at the opening of 2013 National Council on Finance & Economic Development, NACOFED, in Minna, Niger State, yesterday.

Patrick Obahiagbon Explode 'Grammar' Again On The ASUU Strike(SEE)

Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, from Edo state ,has never fails to amaze us with his grammatically inclined words.

Read what he said on the current ongoing ASUU strike issue battling higher institutions in the country;

“This ASUU strike is a miasma of a deprecable apothesis of an hemorrhaging plutocracy, cascadinly oozing into a maladorous excresence of mobocracy.
With all tarmangant ossifying proclivities of a kakistocracy, our knowledgia centura is enveloped in a paraphlegic crinkum crankum. Therefore, ASUU

SPOKEN WORDS:Dont Make Going To School A Priority But Love Education(A MUST READ)

I saw this spoken words on the internet ,after reading and listing to what this young man was saying,i think i really agree with this guy, going to school should not be a priority but acquiring education should be the must important,,,

So you want... to get a degree
Why?
Let me tell you what society will tell you:
Increases your chances of getting a job,
Provides you an opportunity to be successful,
Be a lot less stressful,
Education is the key.

Now let me tell you something your parents will tell you:
Make me proud,
Increases your chances of getting a job,
Provides you an opportunity to be successful,
Your life will be a lot less stressful,
Education is the key.

Now let's look at the statistics,
Steve Jobs - net worth seven billion R.I.P,
Richard Branson - net worth four point two billion,
Oprah Winfrey - two point seven billion,
Mark Zuckenburg, Henry Ford, Steven Spielberg, Bill Gates
Now here comes the Coup de grĂ¢ce,
Looking at these individuals comes to the conclusion,
Neither of them in being successful,
Ever graduated for a higher learning institution.

Now some of you may be like,
Money is only the medium by which we measure worldly success,
And some of you even have the nerve to say
"I don't do it for the money"
So what you studying for?
To work for a charity?
Need more clarity?

Let's look at the statistics:
Jesus,
Muhammed,
Socrates,
Malcolm X,
Mother Teresa,
Spielberg,
Shakespeare,
Beethoven,
Jesse Owens,
Muhammed Ali,
Sean Carter,
Michael Jeffery Jordan,
Michael Joseph Jackson.
Were either of these people unsuccessful... or... uneducated?

All I'm saying is that,
If there was a family tree hard work and education would be related,
And school would probably be a distant cousin,
Because if education is the key,
School is the lock,
Because it rarely ever develops your mind to the point where it can perceive red as green and continue to go when someone else said stop.
Because as long as you follow the rules and pass exams your cool,
But are you aware that examiners have a checklist,
And if your answer is something outside the box then the automatic response is a cross,
And then they claim that school expands your horizons and your visions,
Well tell that to Malcolm X who dropped out of school and is world renowned for what he learn in a prison.

Proverbs 17:16
It does a fool no good to spend money on an education,
Why?
Because he has no common sense.
George Bush. Need I say more?
Education is about inspiring ones mind,
Not just filling their head,
And take this from me because I'm an 'Educated' man myself,
Who only came to this realization after countless nights in the library,
With a can of red bull keeping me awake till morning,
Another can in the morning,
Falling asleep between piles of books that probably equates to the same amount I spent on my rent,
Memorize equations, facts and dates,
Write down to the letter,
Half of which I would never remember,
And half of which I would forget straight after the exam,
Before the start of the next semester,
Asking anyone if they had notes for the last lecture.
I often found myself running to class,
Just so I could find a spot on which I could rest my head and just sleep without making a scene,
Ironic because that's the only time in university I spent chasing my dreams.
And then after nights with a dead-mind,
I'd den find myself in a queue of half-awake students, zombies,
Waiting to hand in an assignment,
Maybe that's why they call it a deadline.
And then after three years of mental suppression,
And frustration,
My "Proud Mother" didn't even turn up to my graduation.

Now, I'm not saying that school is evil and there's nothing to gain,
All I'm saying is: understand your morals and re-assess your aims,
If you want a job working for someone else then help yourself,
But then that would be a contradiction because you wouldn't really be helping yourself,
You'd be helping somebody else,
There's a saying that is: if you don't build your dreams, someone else will hire you to help build theirs.

Redefine how you view education,
Understand it's true meaning,
Education is not just about regurgitating facts from a book,
Or someone else's opinion on a subject to pass an exam,
Look at it.
Picasso was educated at creating art,
Shakespeare was educated in the art of all that was written,
Colonel Harland Sanders was educated in the art of creating Ken Tucky Fried Chicken.

I once saw David Beckham take a free kick,
I watched as the side of his Adidas-sponsored boot hit the patent leather of the ball at an angle,
Which caused it to travel towards the skies as though it was destined for the heavens,
And then as it reached the peek of it's momentum,
As though it changed it's mind,
It switched directions.
I watched as the goalkeeper froze,
As though reciting to himself the laws of physics,
And as though his brain was negotiating with his eyes,
That was indeed witnessing the spectacle that was the leather swan that was swooping towards it,
And then reacted,
Though only a fraction of a millisecond too late,
And before the net of the goal,
Embraced the Fifa-Sponsored ball as though it was the prodigal son returning home,
And the country, that I live in, Erupted into cheers,
I looked at the play and thought,
Damn,
Looking at David Beckham,
There's more than one way in this world to be,

An educated man.

SHOCKING:Lagos School Suspends Students For Praying

What is happening?praying to God is now a crime in lagos school, this is one of the most shocking news i have seen.

7 student has been expelled and suspended from school for holding a prayer meeting after school hours at a Lagos public school, Gaskiya Senior College, Badia by the school authorities.

The students, who are executive officers of Christian Students Union in the school, were also allegedly branded as cultists by the principal of the school, Mrs. Shobowale.

The names of the affected students,  all in Senior Secondary School 2, are John Otega, Michael Change, Valentina Okoye, Valentine Okoye, Faith Okolie, Chidinma Chidozie and Jennifer Emmanuel, who was expelled from the school.

The affected students have denied the allegation, claiming that they were being persecuted by the school authorities because of their faith.

Newsmen gathered  that 12 students of the fellowship were holding their prayer meeting on Tuesday, 2 April when the principal saw them around 5 p.m. and told the security men to luck them up.

The students also denied the principal’s claim that the expelled student, Jennifer slapped her and the security guard. They insisted that Jennifer mistakenly hit the principal while praying because she closed her eyes and was moving her hand around during the closing prayers. It was alleged that the next day (3 April), the principal paraded the 12 students during the morning assembly as cultists, an allegation they denied.

The students were initially suspended for seven days but were given indefinite suspension on 7 May, while the school prefects among them were allegedly relieved of their posts in the school. Following the incident, the parents of the affected students were said to have begged the principal to recall the students, but to no avail.

We are not cultist and we can never be ,i don't really know what the principle want from us,he doesn't really love to see us pray...one of the student explain.

The Parents of some of the student  were also told to report to school with their children when they were sitting for the West African Examination Council, WAEC, as the school authorities said they had to be monitored because of their action.

The parents  of the suspended students,  Mrs Beauty John, Mrs Felicia Okolie,Mrs Goodness Chidozie, Mrs Jacita Change, Mrs Tina Emmanuel and Mrs Chinweogo Okoye, have now called on the state governor to look into the matter.

In a letter written by the parents they accused the school principal of persecuting their children who are devoted Christians and  could not have been involved in cultism.

“Our children are still at home doing nothing. What have these Christian students done to deserve this humiliation?  If this is how school principals are, we think such principals do not deserve to be principals and should be sacked,” they said.

The Christian base organisation has told the state government to investigate this matter.

Activist advocates girl-child education in Nigeria

Human rights activist, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, has advocated girl-child education in order to reduce maternal mortality rate in the society ,Nigeria.

In a statement made available to our correspondent, Igbuzor said there was a correlation between education and maternal mortality rate. He said, “If a woman is educated, the possibility of dying an avoidable death is reduced. That is why girl -child education must be encouraged.’’

He said this in Abuja in a keynote address at the 6th anniversary and award of scholarship to some less privileged children by the Emoeferotu Foundation.

Beyond the encouraging girl-child education, Igbuzor added that lack of access to education had kept many Nigerian children out of school, especially, the less privileged ones. This anomaly, he said, must be addressed for the country to actualise its dreams of becoming a developed nation.

He said government must allocate a substantial percentage of its annual budget to education to enable the millions of children that were roaming the streets have access to qualitative education.

He said, ‘‘Access is a big problem. Quality and funding are issues that must be addressed, for every child that is up to school age to be in school and not just receive education but quality education. The quality of education in Nigeria is lamentable.”
